York Restaurant gets a ‘sleek new dining room’ as part of its makeover

A popular York restaurant has had a makeover, adding a ‘sleek new dining room’.

PizzaExpress is already set up in some style, in the Grade II splendor of River House on Museum Street.

Now, it has undergone a makeover and has just unveiled a new look to customers.

The new restaurant features “a beautifully tiled reception room”

A company spokesperson said YorkMix:

PizzaExpress on Museum Street has been given a stylish new dining room that features velvet curtains and a beautifully tiled reception room.

The pizzeria is a listed building, and it has received new signage on the outside to complement the furniture and decoration renovations inside.

The kitchen has also received upgrades such as a new space to accommodate increased delivery volumes.

The building opened in 1869 as a gentlemen’s club. Prominent York Victorians wanted an exclusive meeting place and the Yorkshire Club was established in 1839.

Its original home was St Leonard’s Place before moving to the grand building in Museum Street.

River House also had a private waterfront area. Today this Lendal Boatyard, a dock for pleasure boats of City Cruises.

It has been home to PizzaExpress for many years. At its heart is the open kitchen, where expert pizza makers showcase their pizza-making skills.

Ben Hicks, Territory Manager at PizzaExpress York, said: “Our customers really like our pizzeria and we think they will appreciate the new refresh of our store as it provides a great atmosphere for all occasions.

“We look forward to welcoming people through our doors and serving the meals they most desire.”
