Quite simply, “our goal was to create a space where you would want to spend time,” says designer Jonathan Savage of his space in the Whole Home 2022, which was once a study. Saturating the walls and ceiling in a rich gray-blue, he divided the 230-square-foot space into a cozy den at one end and an area for hosting dinner parties or game nights at the other. A tone-on-tone wallcovering a set of crown molding sections and a woolen herringbone rug give it sparkle and texture, while the off-center fireplace, still but updated with a Francois & Co. mantel, draws guests in. “It’s an informal entertaining space that keeps everyone in front of the house,” says Savage.
