It’s a party to eat! If you are looking to immerse yourself in the spirit of the parade after a delicious meal at Disneyland Park, then you are in for a treat. Plaza Inn is offering a new dining package that offers a reserved tour of Mickey’s Soundsational Parade with the purchase of a midday meal. How does this meal plan work and is it worth it? We’re here to tell you everything.
Mickey’s Soundsational Parade Plaza Inn Dining Package
Guests can make a reservation for the Plaza Inn Meal Package between 1:30 PM and 4:00 PM. When you enter the restaurant, you check in with a Cast Member inside on the left. Here you will choose your entry and pay for your meal, as well as receive a cordon and a Fast Pass for Mickey’s Soundsational Parade. The reserved viewing area will be available for the second show of the day if the parade is scheduled for two shows.
For the starter, adults can choose a pork chop with a traditional barbecue sauce, penne pasta topped with marinara sauce and Parmesan, or an apple salad with green apples, blue cheese, chopped nuts and cranberries. dried mixed with a sweet apple vinaigrette. Each starter is accompanied by a fountain drink or bottled water, a small apple salad (except for the apple salad starter option), mashed potatoes specialty, a buttermilk cookie, seasonal vegetables and a slice of layered cake. For the kids there is a plate of chicken fillets with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, their choice of applesauce or carrot, and a piece of cake, as well as a small bottle of water or skimmed milk.
The cost of the adult meal is $ 40 and the cost of the child’s meal is $ 25. Annual discounts for pass holders apply. We chose the starter of pork chops for our meal. So for $ 40, how did we feel about this meal? Let’s break it down into each element first.
Pork chop with traditional barbecue sauce
We opted for the pork chop instead of the penne and we were not disappointed. The portion sizes ended up being larger than we expected and there was a decent amount of barbecue sauce on it so we didn’t feel the need to ask for more. The meat was well cooked and not too fatty either. The barbecue was a bit sweeter and tangier than the traditional barbecue sauce, but we really liked the way it paired with the pork. The only complaint is that the pork chop was served lukewarm. It would have been nicer if it had been served hotter.
Small Apple Salad
The Cast Member who was serving the meal asked if we wanted the blue cheese, but we chose not to. And honestly, we don’t see how necessary this is, as this salad is quite delicious without it. The sweet apple vinaigrette didn’t have a strong apple flavor, but that didn’t make it any less enjoyable. The dried cranberries and walnuts paired really well together and made every bite of salad taste more flavorful.
The apple salad starter is a larger version. So based on this small version, we recommend that you try the full entry as well.
Specialty mashed potatoes
When we checked in for our meal, the Cast Member politely informed us that the potatoes were supposed to be purple, so we didn’t need to be alarmed. We thought it was quite fun and we wonder how many guests will be hesitant to try.
Despite their unusual color, this mashed potatoes tasted pretty normal to us. Similar to pork chop, they were served lukewarm and we would have preferred to eat them hotter than that. But they were thick, not runny at all, and the skins were mixed up. All in all, it’s not a terrible accompaniment.
Again, another item that was not served hot. This cookie is pretty well baked. It’s crisp and flaky on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside. But since it wasn’t served lukewarm, it was a fairly average cookie.
Much like the little apple salad, this side dish was a winner. Certainly, we are not the biggest fans of corn; we think it’s a pretty boring vegetable. However, it couldn’t be less boring. Lima beans, tomatoes, and onion made corn much more interesting to eat. And that was the side dish we found ourselves wanting to come back to over and over again for another bite. Also, the color of this side dish is reminiscent of the floats from Mickey’s Soundsational Parade, so we thought it matched the theme of the Plaza Inn meal package very well.
First of all, there is no explanation for the flavors of this layered cake, so we were a little frustrated trying to figure this out on our own, based on the taste. From what we can tell, this cake is made with cream cheese frosting and fruit flavored layers. There is a very thin layer of fruit between the orange cake layer and the cream cheese filling, which added freshness to every bite. Overall we absolutely loved it. It’s similar to the Celebration Cake at the Plaza Inn for Get Your Ears On, except it has cream cheese frosting instead of buttercream. We’re big fans of cream cheese, so we liked this cake more because of it. It was chewy and fresh so we think it’s a great dessert to end the meal.
When you have finished your meal and are ready to watch Mickey’s Soundsational Parade, you will find the information you need on your Fast Pass. It will let you know where and when the check-in is for the parade, as well as the time of the performance. Check-in will take place in front of the Walt Statue on Main Street, USA
For parade-only viewing, benches and chairs are set up for guests along the Hub, just across the street from the Plaza Inn. Patrons will get a perfect view of Mickey’s Soundsational Parade as it winds its way along Main Street, USA
There are some things that can be improved, like the warmth of the food, but overall we think this experience is worth the cost. If a full, hearty meal is what you’re looking for at Disneyland, you can’t beat the Plaza Inn Dining Package. And if you’re a Mickey’s Soundsational Parade fan, having a dedicated vantage point to watch the parade is a huge plus. You can enjoy your meal with peace of mind, knowing that you don’t have to schedule a seat for hours before it begins. It’s a huge victory in our book.
