Sample premium beers and tasty Chilean cuisine in a new permanent dining room in Norwich Market.
Sir Toby’s Beers and Cocina Mia have opened the seating area at stalls 154 and 161 in the former home of Barry’s of Norwich, a fabric stall which recently closed after 50 years in business.
It follows the success of Sir Toby’s Beers’ Norwich Market Nights venture launched in 2020 in response to the pandemic.
The event saw the bar and beer, wine and spirits shop team up with various food stalls for a nightly experience once a month, with tables and benches set up in the market aisles.
Dominic Burke, who runs Sir Toby’s Beers with Toby Westgarth, said: “We’ve been running Norwich Market Nights for a few years but going forward it’s not viable to get the benches and tables in place for the evening, then lower them four hours later.
“Ana from Cocina Mia approached us to do a joint project and we managed to get a double stand and it looks really smart.
“We held a soft launch last Friday and Saturday and it couldn’t have gone better.
“There was a good mix of customers and a pleasant atmosphere – we’re delighted with how it turned out.”
It will officially open on May 5 and will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with table service and pre-booking recommended.
Sir Toby’s Beers will offer three draft beers, which will rotate every weekend, Chilean wines, canned cocktails and seltzers as well as its usual selection of craft beer cans.
Cocina Mia was started by Ana Bridgman in 2017 and offers authentic Chilean cuisine.
In the evening, it will expand its offer and the menu will include a platter to share with a choice of empanadas with accompaniments.
Ms Bridgman said: “The summer months are approaching and this is another opportunity for me to grow my business.
“At the moment, I only do lunch and people always ask me if I do an evening option.”
She also plans to use the lounge area for her guests during the day.
