STATEN ISLAND, NY — A the virtual camp experience offered by McDonald’s this summer highlights food deals, menu hacks, limited-edition merchandise and musical performances by pop artists. The “Camp McDonald’s” program is deployed on the Chicago-based company’s app.

July’s food deals revolve around the Big Mac, Chicken McNuggets, French fries and two menu hacks – discounted Apple Pie McFlurry (July 6) and a buildable McFlurry sandwich (July 20).

There will be musical performances each Sunday by BIBI (July 24), Omar Apollo (July 17), blackbear (July 10) and Mickey D headliner Kid Cudi (July 31).

As for merchandising, nostalgia will take over the country with ’70s types thanks to a Camp McDonald’s “Don’t Trip” collection from Free & Easy (July 7). Collaborations with Free & Easy, Ma®ket, innisfree and Kid Cudi will bring memories.

There are seven McDonald’s on the island – 1660 Richmond Ave., Bulls Head; 3267 Richmond Ave, Arden Heights; 260 Page Ave, Richmond Valley; 803 Forest Avenue, West Brighton; 1815 Forest Avenue, Graniteville; 501 Bay St., Stapleton. The Golden Arches at 2154 Hylan Blvd., Midland Beach operates 24 hours a day.

A fun little Golden Arches fact for the borough books: the Graniteville spot was Staten Island’s first McDonald’s in 1973. It closed in 2014 for a massive overhaul. Its grand reopening was in February 2015 and was among the first outlets in New York to feature kiosks. Most recently, Staten Island’s first “Golden Arches” franchise owners officially retired from the burger business on Thursday, March 31, 2022. The Sweeney family said “goodbye” to customers in Greenridge and Bulls Head during this last night of ownership. The business continues under the tutelage of Lisa and Roy Iraci with their daughter Lisa, now operator of 15 Big Apple locations.

A few weeks ago I saw Fantastic ! for the first time since returning to Disneyland Park. It was a very moving experience as I had not seen her in over two years since the COVID-19 pandemic closed the parks. I arrived two hours early to get a seat (which is pretty standard for getting there early) only to find that unlike the old days you are no longer allowed to sit during the show and you have to stand. I noticed that a few of the middle sections were marked off and people were sitting in those sections. So I asked a cast member how these sections could sit. These sections are reserved for customers who have Fantastic ! Meal packages. Although it was a bit painful to stand for so long to wait and watch the show, I was just excited to finally see the show after so long, and continued to stand.

When the show started, I got a little frustrated because there were so many people standing in front of me who were much taller (I’m 5’2), and I was on my tiptoes, leaning to the left and to the right, trying to see Mickey. on Tom Sawyer’s Island. I had to be that person and lift my phone up high and watch the show through my phone screen. That’s when I decided I wanted to try one of the dining packages to get the reserved seats and see if they were really worth it.

Short answer? Yes, it’s really worth it!

Currently, you can choose from three different locations that offer the Fantastic ! Dining packages: Blue Bayou, River Belle Terrace and Hungry Bear Restaurant. I had a lunch reservation at River Belle Terrace last weekend, and it was one of the best experiences. I chose River Belle because Blue Bayou is the most expensive of the three and Hungry Bear is fast service, so I chose the mid-priced option with table service. It was also my first time dining at River Belle, so I got to try some of their menu items for the first time!

I was able to check into the Disneyland app five minutes before my reservation and was seated within ten minutes of checking in. They tried to seat me inside, but I asked if I could sit outside since it was such a beautiful summer day. All tables are covered with umbrellas and you have a view of the river, so if you’re ok with the weather in the shade, I highly recommend eating outside! The servers will introduce you to their usual menu once you are seated, and if you are interested in the Fantastic ! Meal package, you will inform them immediately and they will bring you another special menu.

I started with the strawberry-pistachio salad. I didn’t think it was anything special; the leaves were a bit wilted and the whole thing was a bit bland. It wasn’t completely awful but it wasn’t the best. For my entree I chose the Cuban sandwich which is actually a regular menu item. The plate came with toddlers and homemade baked beans; the whole plate was delicious! The meat in the sandwich was so tender and flavorful, and the green sauce was to die for! I’m also normally more of a fried girl, but these toddlers blew my mind. They have a Cajun seasoning that just makes you want to keep eating them! The baked beans were a perfect addition to the meal, although nothing special.

The Fantastic ! the dessert is very interesting and visually cool. It is a chocolate dome surrounded by fruity pebbles. They give you a tiny pitcher of hot condensed milk which you pour over the dome to melt the chocolate. Inside reveals mango sorbet, pickled berries and raspberry cake. A big problem with this dessert is that the condensed milk isn’t hot enough to melt the chocolate dome, so you have to use a fork or spoon to open the dome and get the rest of your dessert. The berries were really good, but personally I wasn’t a fan of the sorbet or the raspberry cake. Again, it’s visually really cool, but because I felt stuck, I had to go to the park and find another dessert to satisfy the sweets craving.

One important thing to note is that if you don’t see an item on the Fantastic ! menu that is on the regular menu that you would like to order, ask your server usually they can do it for you without problem. River Belle Terrace offers both lunch and dinner and for lunch you can get the standard package which is $50 per adult and $35 per child. For dinner, you can choose between the Standard package or the Premium package ($75 per adult; $45 per child). The Premium package requires you to get a reservation for the restaurant at 7:15 p.m. and be able to watch the show from your table! Lunch reservations start at 11:00 a.m. and end when dinner starts at 4:00 p.m.

Once you have received your bill, you have the option (subject to availability) between the 9:00 p.m. viewing and the 10:30 p.m. viewing. Your server will give you an old fashioned FastPass and you will meet in a designated area to be taken to your seating section. Guests at River Belle Terrace meet near Harbor Galley. For my 9:00 p.m. show, I was told the line started at 7:30 p.m., but when I got there, several people were already lined up. However, I had a very good place and was in the second row; with everyone seated, it’s definitely easier to see the whole show and it’s more comfortable!

As stated before, I highly recommend the Fantastic ! Meal packages. Although I have yet to experience those at the Hungry Bear Restaurant or the Blue Bayou, I do know that I have had excellent dining experiences at both locations and in the seating areas for Fantastic ! for both looked great too! I had a great first experience at River Belle Terrace, and for the most part the food was really good and the service was probably the best service I’ve ever had at a table service restaurant in Disneyland.

There are several events that guests can book exclusive dining packages for, whether it’s a parade, night show, or fireworks. These packages provide guests with several perks including a meal, dessert, and credentials to access exclusive viewing areas depending on location and package purchased. However, there is one particular event for which meal plans sold out more than a month before it took place.

We are talking about the Plaza Inn dinner package with reserved viewing for the 4th of July fireworks. While the fireworks shows at Disneyland Resort are always memorable, there are few things more exciting and moving for visitors than being able to see the sky light up above Sleeping Beauty’s Castle during a special holiday, such as New Year’s Eve and, of course, the 4th of July.

When “World of Color” returned to Disneyland last month, it was supposed to come with a meal plan and a dessert party, both of which offered a reserved spot to watch the show.

For some unknown reason, the dessert party went live, but the meal plan did not.

However, it looks like the meal plan is finally online to book, although it is a bit different from what was originally offered.

Disneyland - Wine Country Trattoria

The dining package includes a full-service lunch or dinner at Wine Country Trattoria, or buffet dinner at Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

The package also includes a one-person admission voucher to a reserved viewing area at Paradise Gardens Park for the “World of Color”.

The package prices are as follows:

Storytellers cafe

Dinner: Starting at $59 for adults; $35 for children (3 to 9 years old)
Includes an all-you-can-eat buffet, a non-alcoholic drink (special coffees not included) and a sweet specialty.

Wine Country Trattoria

Dinner: From $59 for adults; $35 for children (3 to 9 years old)
Dinner: Starting at $59 for adults; $35 for children (3 to 9 years old)
Includes a 3-course meal (starter, main course and dessert) from a fixed price menu, plus a soft drink.

The main differences with the revamped dining packages are that Carthay Circle is no longer offered as a dining location and starting prices have increased from $50 adults / $25 children.

The biggest change is that reservations for the “World of Color” dining package are no longer directly available online or through the app.

You now need to secure a regular reservation to dine at the restaurant of your choice, and if you want the “World of Color” meal plan, let your host or server know when you dine.

According to Disney, “World of Color” dining packages are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to availability.

Here are the scheduled meal times for which you need your reservation in order to request the “World of Color” meal plan.

Storytellers cafe
First Show – Dinner Time: 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Second show – Dinner time: 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
On dates with a single World of Color show, the suggested dining time is 6-7 p.m.

Wine Country Trattoria
Lunch is available from 12:30 p.m. to 2:55 p.m.
Dinner is available from 3:00 p.m. to 6:20 p.m.

Disneyland - Color World

I don’t know why Disneyland chose to revamp the reservation process. This seems to leave more room for chance.

But at least customers can once again enjoy the “World of Color” dining package. We’ll let you know if there are any other changes.

The Plaza Inn restaurant offers Main Street Electrical Parade meal packages with reserved seating and an all-in-one meal including Disneyland’s famous fried chicken. This review details whether viewing the Premium Parade is worth it, along with information on what it entails, how to book the MSEP Meal Package, and more.

Let’s start with a few quick reminders. Main Street Electrical Parade returns to Disneyland once again, for its 37th farewell run. It’s like the Terminator T-1000 or McRib from the parades at this point – just when you thought it was gone for good, BAM! It’s back and ready to attack/savor deliciously/light up the night, as the case may be.

This time it’s (a little) different. It’s Main Street Electrical Parade’s 50th anniversary, with a new final float, special merchandise, food and drink and lots of hype. There’s also the small issue that Californians have been deprived of most of Disneyland’s iconic nighttime shows (sorry, Mickey’s Rad Rave doesn’t qualify as “iconic”) for over 2 years. All of this is a recipe for chaos and crowds.

Although this review is published at the start of the Main Street Electrical Parade 50th Anniversary Throwback Run, it’s safe to say that watching the parade will be a challenge for the foreseeable future. Pent-up demand remains strong, the park’s reservation system means a steady supply of locals, and there’s plenty of excitement and excitement to get back to normal and enjoy a sentimental favorite.

It was a similar story when Main Street Electrical Parade returned during the “off season” after the Diamond Celebration. The parade’s nostalgia-soaked marketing blitz in markets in Los Angeles and Orange County drew monster crowds in months that would normally be slow, and locals camped out for hours. The main parade viewing areas were several rows deep well before show time. It will be the same scenario for the Main Street Electrical Parade 50th Anniversary Race.

With that said, let’s get to the details of the Plaza Inn Dining Package for Main Street Electrical Parade. The Disneyland buffet restaurant at the end of Main Street offers this option daily from 1-3:30 p.m. (a savvy move to put the popular package on during off-peak hours).

The cost of lunch with the Plaza Inn Dining Package is $40 per adult and $25 per child plus tax. Discounts are available for Magic Key Pass holders.

The Plaza Inn Dining Package for Main Street Electrical Parade can be reserved online through Disneyland.com or the app, up to 60 days in advance.

If you’re having trouble booking this, you’re not alone. Unfortunately, it’s incredibly difficult. We managed to score a spot and haven’t seen any availability since. I would hazard a guess that the entire reserved viewing area can accommodate less than 100 guests, which is very limited. It’s always possible that Disneyland will add more reserved viewing areas or that cancellations will occur, so we recommend that you keep checking as your travel dates approach.

Now on to the food offered for the Plaza Inn Main Street Electrical Parade 50th Anniversary Dining Package:

Adult meal plan menu

  • World Famous Plaza Inn Fried Chicken
  • Oven roasted carrots
  • Homemade smoked macaroni and cheese
  • Salad of bacon wedges and pickled onions served with homemade ranch dressing and blue cheese crumbs
  • Mickey shaped honey sweet cornbread
  • Decadent Berry Cheesecake
  • Choice of drink: 20 oz. fountain drink or 20 oz. Dasani Water

Child meal plan menu

  • Plaza Inn World Famous Fried Chicken Thigh
  • Oven roasted carrots
  • Homemade smoked macaroni and cheese
  • Applesauce
  • Mickey shaped honey sweet cornbread
  • Decadent Berry Cheesecake
  • Choice of drink: small Dasani water or small low-fat milk

Our reservation at the Plaza Inn was for the 2:30 p.m. “seat”, but chances are we could have checked in anytime between 1 and 3:30 p.m.

The restaurant is still operating as a regular buffeteria during this time, with customers able to order the normal menu from all but one bay. There are no reserved tables or servers for this – it’s the normal Plaza Inn lunch/dinner experience with open indoor and outdoor seating.

When we arrived, we checked in with a cast member outside, who picked up our reservation on an iPad. He then sent us inside the restaurant to a queue at a cash register reserved for Plaza Inn dining packages.

There we paid for the meal and received FastPass style paper tickets to enter the reserved seating section as well as personalized lanyards to wear in the viewing area. The Cast Member at the registry advised us to keep our receipt in case we lost the lanyards and/or paper FastPasses.

From there we headed to the buffeteria bay to collect our plates.

What is served for the meal plan is not part of the normal entrees, but is similar enough to determine the value of the plan. Considering the $19 price of the fried chicken alone, the meal itself is around $25-$30. Of course, the “value” is in the eye of the beholder.

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the Plaza Inn, but I think its price has gotten out of control. I still remember when chicken was $13. (The old man shakes his fist at the cloud.) Also, it seems the quality was more hit or miss – dropping $19 for dry chicken is not my idea of a good time.

Our chicken was impeccable. The amount of breading, texture, seasoning, consistency, juiciness, tenderness and overall flavor were all spot on. If I could still be guaranteed a fried chicken of this caliber, I would drop $19 and do all meals at the Plaza Inn. The only disappointment with the meal was the homemade smoked macaroni and cheese which was basically macaroni less cheese.

Although the Plaza Inn Main Street Electrical Parade’s 50th Anniversary Meal Package says it’s a set menu, entree substitutions are allowed for those allergic (or otherwise) to the glorious fried chicken. Sarah made such a substitution ordering the chipotle and pineapple glazed salmon.

This salmon is an ambitious and flavorful dish by buffeteria standards, offering perfectly prepared flaky fish with a unique, fruity glaze. However, it is also much smaller than fried chicken. This is obviously to be expected. When you arrive at Nobu, they don’t hand you a big bucket of salmon, Colonel Sanders style.

Even with the small salmon and no-cheese mac and cheese, we couldn’t fault the food served as part of the Plaza Inn dining package. It was a fantastic meal. (If you could swap the mac and cheese for mashed potatoes, you’d be living the Disneyland dream.)

We left full and didn’t eat for the rest of the day. Easily $25 worth here, which puts reserved seating at around $15 per person. Given that guests were already camping out to claim the Main Street Electrical Parade spots by mid-afternoon when we left the Plaza Inn, that’s probably not too high a price for the viewing area.

Paper FastPasses are for reserved seating at the first Main Street Electrical Parade performance.

These tickets state that you must check in at the flagpole in Town Square approximately 30 minutes before the parade starts. You’ll want to arrive much earlier than that. Disneyland fans love nothing more than camping for things; when it comes to things like that, there’s always a line for the line, so to speak.

The seating area is at the back of Town Square, facing Main Street USA Station.

It’s a big section and there was plenty of room for people, even in the second and third rows, to sit down and stretch out a bit. The downside was that guests jostling for last minute seats kept asking if they could squeeze in. (The photo above does not correctly illustrate how crowded the other sections were compared to this area.)

As for Main Street Electrical Parade viewing locations, I’m more or less neutral on this location.

The view is perfectly fine; I just prefer the more iconic perspective with Sleeping Beauty’s castle in the background for photos. My only recommendation would be to sit on one of the furthest sides of the viewing area; this should give you a little more space and also a better perspective of the parade floats rounding the corner.

Ultimately, we highly recommend booking the Plaza Inn Dining Package for the Main Street Electrical Parade 50th Anniversary. If you’re going on a Disneyland vacation, you’ll still want to try that infamous fried chicken, which drives up the cost of the reserved seating area to $15 per person. While not an insignificant expense for a family of 4, the time and headaches saved by not having to camp hours in advance and “guard” your territory is worth that amount.

We’re not normally particularly keen on paying a premium for just spectacular viewing areas at night (looking at you, magic kingdom fireworks dessert parties), but it’s just different at Disneyland. Locals have time to kill spots for hours, and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon. We have already decided that we will (try to) book this again for Sarah’s mother, as she loves Main Street Electrical Parade and the extra cost is worth avoiding the aforementioned chaos. Also, I will make every excuse I can to eat more fried chicken at the Plaza Inn.
